hello im back from china! with flu, unfortunately. im not dead yet so i dont think its bird flu.
am very pleased with my new stamp- at lipu my bro and i made friends with the shop lady who let me design this uber complicated stamp for the shifu to carve- and ta da!

the feng jing in china was really magnificent, though i kept thinking "the very fibnger-touches of the last geological change" was especially apt, since the mountains were once undersea volcanic emissions. but anyway, its conrad in a different setting- i couldnt help but think of the wilderness when we were watcing all those ethnic-ey performances with unrealistically bright costumes and etc, against the mountain backdrop.

at any rate, the scenery compensated for the acute lack of shopping opportunities, such that i am giving people tea as presents, for lack of something better. tea is good, though, i suppose, considering how much we bought. aaron managed to buy more than me on this trip- he got like 48642889487962*9189 clothes as compared to me. sulk. and there werent many cheap+good beads to buy either. am rather annoyed that the "jadite" beads i got turned out to be dyed cat's eye. although it doesnt really matter, since a string of them onyl cost like, $1.something anyway. hurhur

ive realised that my chinese hasnt deteriorated that badly after all! and have found a renewed interest in the formation of the chinese word. chinese is basically pictograms- so its a nice thought that we are thinking/speaking/writing in pictures. i think that if it wasnt stupid, i could do my thesis on it. stupid meaning the idea of doing a thesis like this at edinburgh, though that assumes that i can get to edinburgh anyway, and that more importantly i can secure the funding to study there. hurhur.

didnt like the weather in china one bit- it was way too chilly, and waay too dry for it to be comfortable. my lip balm conked out on the last day, so now i have to contend with annoyingly cracked and dry lips, which feel funny and look weird.

i just realised that i get happy when i buy hats. i dotn have a lot of hats, but i like hats. on the trip i managed to get one that matched my ruski coat, which is nice and furry and soft. unfortunately its a bunny hAt. [i only realised later] im shielding myself from the truth by deducing that since its nto made of bunny SKIN, they mush have shaved the bunny. so i didnt kill any bunnies, i only made some bald.

actually i cant decide which is worse.

at any rater, i have bought myself a bunch of chinese brushes from pop to teach myself calligraphy/ chinese painting, and am annoyed cos they are shedding like a dog in spring. summer. whatever. will start soon. and if you ahve any ideas what words/ poems to write do tell me, because my chinese stinks so much i cant think of anything to write at all.
